Assistant Principals
Dr. Claire Anderson
Assistant Principal
Hello and welcome to Dunbar High School,
Working with students is a passion of mine. I truly enjoy helping the students reach their potential; they are worth the effort and I love working with them every day. This is my passion and I knew it from early on.
I like to get to know my students and I want them to know me. I also would like for you to know a little bit about my background. I am Dr. Claire Anderson and I taught Special Education students for 14 years before entering into Administration. I received an athletic track and field scholarship to Louisiana State University. While there, I received my Bachelor of Science in Special Education. I continued my education at the University of Illinois as their graduate track and field coach and I received my Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education. I went back to New Jersey to teach special students because of my strong ties and sense of responsibility to my community. While in New Jersey, I was an Assistant Track and Field Coach at Seton Hall University. During my coaching career at Seton Hall University, my men's and women's teams won Big East titles. It was at this time that I met my future husband and we moved to Arizona, where he was the assistant track and field coach at Arizona State University. While in Arizona, I taught Special Education students while receiving my Doctorate in Administration and Supervision. I landed in Texas because my husband is the Head Track and Field Coach at Texas Christian University. I have two children, Isiah and Jasmine. Isiah graduated from TCU while Jasmine attends TCU.
I look forward to being the bridge between home and school and if there is anything that I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and have a great Wildcat experience!

Dr. Artis M. Royal
Assistant Principal
After four degrees, and 20 years of executive nonprofit leadership in GA, NY, and TN, Dr. Royal has taught in various settings at the public, graduate, and collegiate levels.
One of his sources of great pride is rooted in the fact that he is a “Chap-Cat”: a proud graduate of Wyatt High School and serves the Wildcat Nation. The South Side of Fort Worth is home.
Having served in the DISD and FWISD, he has taught, been a department chair, and coached football and basketball.
Selected by the district to participate in the Sid Richardson School Leadership cohort at TCU in 2018, he completed a year of internship at Dunbar while enrolled in school full-time. After graduating with a 3.76 GPA, he was asked to return as a part of the leadership team.
His ultimate goal is to strive every day to move, “onward and upward towards the light.”
